Correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, and memorabilia related to Grass's personal interests, which included the German Orphan Home, the Christian Heurich mansion, Phi Mu Sigma fraternity, and the Washington Canoe Club; together with board minutes, correspondence, contracts, construction specifications, reports, and invoices, documenting the construction, furnishing, staffing, and operation of the Christian and Eleonora Ruppert Home for the Aged and Indigent Residents of the District of Columbia, and to the management of rental property owned by the Christian Ruppert estate.

German American brewer and civic leader, of Washington, D.C. Christian Heurich (1842-1945), was born in Haina, Germany, and emigrated to Baltimore in 1866 to join his married sister. Later, he traveled to Chicago to work in a brewery and to Kansas, returning to Baltimore in 1868.
